Need help with your heating bill?

The first place to start is with "LIEAP"- the
Low Income Energy Assistance Program

Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP)

The Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP) is designed to help people with the cost of heating their homes during the winter months--October 1, 2006 through April 30, 2007. When you apply for LIEAP, you are also applying for the Weatherization Program. Weatherization helps improve the heating efficiency of homes and permanently reduces energy consumption. Applications will be available October 1st at the Lewistown and Roundup HRDC offices, fuel vendors, senior centers, and Offices of Public Assistance. You may also download an application at:

 http://www.dphhs.mt.gov/programsservices/energyassistance/lieapapplication.pdf

The following information and documentation must be provided before an application can be processed:

1) Names, birthdates, Social Security numbers for everyone in the household on the date of application.

2) Income verification for the past 12 months for all household members.

3) Current checking and savings account statements.

4) Statement of account from your fuel supplier. If you are a NorthWestern Energy customer, please submit a copy of your most recent NWE bill. If a customer qualifies for the Low-Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP), they automatically receive a 15% discount on their NorthWestern Energy electric and natural gas bills. The NorthWestern Energy discount begins when the customer signs up and qualifies for LIEAP. More than 7,000 NorthWestern Energy customers currently receive this discount. You cannot receive the NORTHWESTERN ENERGY DISCOUNT if you do not enclose a copy of the bill.
